HACA 2020 Resident Scholarship Information

HACA’S SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

• Austin Pathways HACA Scholarship – Deadline April 16, 2020. Open to all Public Housing, PBRA and HCV residents with HS diploma or GED who are interested in attending college or vocational school.  Applicants must be in good standing with their lease. Awards are based on available funds (usually 30+ scholarships of $500 – $3000 each).

• Atlantic Housing Foundation - Deadline March 31, 2020. Several opportunities including:

• Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers

  The TAAHP scholarships are open now and are due by April 15, 2020.  PBRA residents of Tax Credit properties and HCV residents of AAHC’s Tax Credit properties are eligible to apply (with additional requirements per the scholarship).

• MexAustin Scholarship  – Deadline April 30, 2020. Applicants will be required to complete a FAFSA or TASFA application​ and write two essays. The scholarship application will also ask students to provide two professional references and provide a resume.
• HAI Group’s Resident Scholarship Program – Due April 30, 2020 (5pm EST)The 2020 resident scholarship program will be opening soon. HAI group will award 20 scholarships worth $6,000.00 each for the 2020 fall semester.Eligibility:  Each applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • Have lived for at least the previous six months in a housing authority or in a property with a housing choice voucher (HCV). Is or will be enrolled in the fall for the 2020-21 academic year in an accredited and/or licensed technical school or accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Is a United States citizen and follow all other rules outlined in the official rules document.
  How to Apply: Once the scholarship is open, there will be an online application for the applicant to submit. Be sure to upload all required documents and fill out all contact details. The drawing to select potential scholarship winners who are new applicants will be held on or about Monday, May 4, 2020.
• Southwest NAHRO Scholarship – Deadline to HACA March 13, 2020. HACA Residents must turn in their applications to HACA by Friday, March 13, 2020 so that HACA can sign the Verification Certification and send with the application. The SWRC NAHRO annually awards scholarships totaling more than $10,000.00.  Scholarship awards are available to public housing residents, participants in rental assistance or similar programs, both heads of household and other family members, and children of staff working for a member agency.
