The Housing Authority of the City of Austin partners with several key organizations to provide training, education and job placement assistance. Each program is free to residents, and many are located in HACA community rooms for convenient access. HACA also provides bus passes and child care reimbursement.

Goodwill Industries
Goodwill Industries provides computer training, customer service skills training, job search and job placement services. Goodwill is located in East Austin at Rosewood Courts at 1143 Chicon Street, Austin, TX 78702 and at Booker T. Washington at 905-A Bedford Street, Austin, TX 78702. Austin Economic Development

Austin Academy
Austin Academy provides Workplace Competency courses designed for specific job training and workplace skills, obtaining your GED and Adult Basic Education. Orientations are help every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Morning and evening classes are available. Austin Academy has a new location at 1640-B East 2nd Street, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78702. Austin Community College
Austin Community College offers Adult Basic Education, GED preparation and ESL classes. For information please contact your Family Self-Sufficiency specialist or contact ACC Adult Education office at 223-7532. Registration is handled at each site and walk-ins are welcome.

Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC)
CWJC provides basic computer skills, life skills, product development, money management, job placement and GED classes. CWJC is located at Northgate at 9120 Northgate, Austin, TX 78758 and newly located at Booker T. Washington at 905-A Bedford Street, Austin, TX 78702. W.E. Angels (Women Experiencing Achieving New Goals & Envisioning Life’s Successes)
W.E. Angels provides classes on assertiveness, personal health, nutrition, money management, child management, self-advocacy, legal rights, coping with crisis, community resources and re-entry to employment. Classes are held for five consecutive Saturdays, located at Booker T. Washington at 905-B Bedford Street, Austin, TX 78702. Child Care Reimbursement
HACA will pay a reimbursement stipend for child care expenses residents incur while attending education or job training classes. Residents are responsible for completing a child care agreement with their Family Self-Sufficiency specialist and for submitting a sign-in/sign-out sheet as documentation child care is being provided.

Mainspring Schools
HACA has "dedicated" (free) slots available through Mainspring. HACA will pay 100 percent of child care costs for up to six months. The slots are for residents who are current members of HACA’s Family Self-Sufficiency program and are employed full-time. Family Connections
Family Connections partners with HACA to provide the Childcare Voucher Program. Participants enroll in the program for one year with the expectations of becoming fully responsible for their childcare need at the end of the program. HACA pays a percentage of the childcare costs, while the participant’s percentage of the cost is raise every three months resulting in childcare self-sufficiency at the end of the program. The vouchers are for residents who are current members of HACA’s Family Self-Sufficiency program and are employed full-time. For more information contact Clarissa Campos at 477-4488 ext. 2160.
