Workforce Development
The Housing Authority of the City of Austin partners with several key organizations
to provide training, education and job placement assistance. Each program
is free to residents, and many are located in HACA community rooms for convenient
access. HACA also provides bus passes and child care reimbursement for qualified
residents.

Goodwill Industries
Goodwill Industries provides computer training, customer service skills training, job search and job placement services. Goodwill is located in East Austin at Rosewood Courts at 1143 Chicon Street, Austin, TX 78702 and at Booker T. Washington at 905-A Bedford Street, Austin, TX 78702. Austin Academy
Austin Academy provides Workplace Competency courses designed for specific job training and workplace skills, obtaining your GED and Adult Basic Education. Orientations are held every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Morning and evening classes are available. Austin Academy has a new location at 1640-B East 2nd Street, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78702. Austin Community College
Austin Community College offers Adult Basic Education, GED preparation and ESL classes. For information please contact your Resident Opportunities Self-Sufficiency Specialist/Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator or contact ACC Adult Education office at 223-7532. Registration is handled at each site and walk-ins are welcome.
Child Care Reimbursement
HACA has two programs for providing childcare assistance for qualified public housing residents that are enroll in an economic self sufficiency program and working, attending school or a job training program, or actively seeking employment. Skillpoint Alliance
Skillpoint Alliance is a non-profit organization which focuses on computer
training and workforce development to help youth and adults prepare for
successful employment. HACA public housing residents are welcome to access
computer classes and job training free of charge. Contact your Resident

Caritas of Austin
Caritas of Austin provides life skills and financial literacy training
in English and Spanish at various HACA public housing communities. These
classes are cover topics such as managing personal finances, avoiding scams
energy conservation, smart shopping, goal setting, time management and finding
