HACA GRANTED $3.1 MILLION FOR 2005 CAPITAL FUND PROGRAM
WHAT: The Housing Authority of the City of Austin
exists to serve its residents. To ensure it continues to provide quality affordable
housing opportunities for families of low income, HACA has been granted $3,068,626
for its Capital Fund Program.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Capital
Fund is intended for physical and management improvements, emergency repairs,
regulatory compliance, improvements outside the scope of routine maintenance
as well as other special projects.
The 2005 plan includes playground and parking improvement, modernization and
renovation of several of the developments, ADA compliance efforts, security
enhancement and management improvements.
Part of the grant includes two bonuses HACA received for ranking as a high
performer on its Public Housing Assessment System inspection and for having
obligated and expended previous grants appropriately. Obligation of the 2005
funds will begin Sept. 7.
