Landlord News and Seminars
Every month the Housing Authority of the City of Austin holds seminars for landlords new to the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. The purpose of this seminar is to give potential landlords an overview of the program. The seminar will take landlords through the steps that include: listing your property, determining a rent amount, selecting a tenant, inspection of the unit, and payment by the housing authority

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES FOR LANDLORDS: MOVING ORIENTATIONS
Regular monthly moving orientations are for HCV families who decide to move
under the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The assisted head of household
must attend a moving orientation to receive the voucher, rent estimates,
and paperwork necessary for the moving process. All participants attending
these orientations will have approximately two months to find a unit in
the private sector. Property owners, apartment staff and landlords are encouraged
to attend to advertise vacancies and to talk to prospective tenants. It
is recommended to bring flyers and business cards to distribute.
The dates for upcoming monthly moving orientations are:
• January 26
• February 29
• March 29
• April 26
• May 31
There will be four orientation times on each of these dates: 9:00
a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. If you need further information
