The Housing Authority of the City of Austin website, www.hacanet.org, is the only website with information on how to apply for housing. Any other website that claims to accept applications or monies on behalf of the Housing Authority of the City of Austin is a fraudulent website.

The Housing Authority of the City of Austin owns and operates 1,928 units of conventional public housing in 19 developments throughout Austin. Development sites range from high-rise apartments on Town Lake to small duplexes in residential neighborhoods. HACA also offers single family homes throughout the city. The housing authority also administers the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program, which provides rent vouchers and certificates for over 5,000 units of housing in the private market.

The Admissions Department takes and processes all new applications for both housing programs. They also maintain both waiting lists and determine eligibility for all new applicants. The Housing Authority of the City of Austin is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access, including but not limited to, access to alternative communications such as sign-language interpretation and assistance with filling out application paperwork, will be provided upon request. Please contact the Admissions department at (512) 477-4488 for more information. Se habla español.
